Sally-Ann Evans has been a headteacher for almost 10 years, and at Ringwood Juniors, a large 3 form entry town school, for the past 6 years. Since her appointment, she has worked to establish distributed leadership across the school and a learning-centred curriculum. In the last Ofsted inspection (2011) they were judged to be outstanding and were also judged as outstanding more recently in a subject inspection for PE (2012). Sally-Ann feels this validates the hard work and drive to achieve the school’s vision. She has been able to develop her skills in coaching and mentoring to bring out the best in members of her team and she has embedded a culture of school self-evaluation with professional development at the centre.
Sally-Ann believes strongly in collaborative working and enjoys the challenge of developing partnerships with local schools. She has jointly led the New Forest Curriculum Development Network to promote curriculum innovation and pupil voice and is working collaboratively with 2 other outstanding schools to develop leadership capacity. She is committed to a model of mature partnership working and seeks to develop this through her active involvement within the SPELL Alliance.
As an experienced leader, Sally-Ann can offer practical suggestions, based on experience, build confidence through a problem-solving approach and show empathy for the many challenges of the job. She enjoys working with new headteachers and leaders as well as those with more experience and is able to support both in her dual role of professional partner and local leader.
